Each year, Canada aims to welcome approximately 110,000 skilled immigrants through the Express Entry program who aspire to become permanent residents. Here’s how to apply for Express Entry.
Determine Your Eligibility
Before applying for Express Entry, ensure you meet the eligibility criteria. Factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency are crucial considerations. Use the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool to calculate your CRS score and assess your chances of success.
Create an Online Profile
Visit the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website and create an Express Entry profile. Provide accurate information. Once your profile is complete, you'll receive a CRS score.
Enter the Express Entry Pool
Your profile is added to the Express Entry pool, where you will be ranked against other candidates based on your CRS score. Candidates with higher CRS scores are more likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.
Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
If you meet the cutoff score in a draw, you'll receive an ITA for permanent residence. Upon receiving the ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence, including supporting documents and fees.
Following Steps
After submitting your application, wait for IRCC to process it. Once your application is approved, you'll receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) document. This document, along with your visa, allows you to enter Canada as a permanent resident.
